Reduce the Affect of Poor Indoor Air Quality

Reduce the affect of poor indoor air quality
Aire Serv® has areas to focus on when cleaning a home

WACO, Texas (May 20, 2014) – There are many common household areas that can affect indoor air quality. Aire Serv has identified the areas homeowners should focus on cleaning to keep dust and dander down during the summer.

Carpets

Carpets attract dust and dander. For people suffering from severe allergies, changing the carpet out and using hardwood or laminate flooring would be an option to consider. If you suffer from allergies but want to keep carpets in your home, vacuum carpets multiple times a week. Pet owners should brush their dogs and cats regularly to keep hair and dander from getting trapped in the carpet fibers.

Vents

Just changing filters will not keep dust out of your home. Be sure to clean vents and registers to remove dust that has collected on the vent and register grates.

Drapes and curtains

Like carpets, drapes and curtains collect dust and danger. High allergy sufferers should remove drapes and curtains frequently and wash them accordingly. Drapes and curtains that are near vents and registers should be checked regularly to see if they are collecting dust.

Ceiling fans

Ceiling fans that stay turned off during the winter months tend to collect dust. Before starting ceiling fans during the spring and summer months, clean the fan blades thoroughly making sure to remove any dust from the tops of the fan blades.

Mini blinds

Mini blinds are another spot in the home that can collect dust. Using a duster multiple times a week will keep dust and dander from collecting on mini blinds.
