About Rochester, NY - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The city of Rochester is located in Monroe County, New York on the Genesee River and southern shores of Lake Ontario.  Founded in 1803 by Colonel Nathaniel Rochester, Major Charles Carroll, and Colonel William Fitzhugh, Jr., Rochester was established as the seat of Monroe County in 1821 and became America’s first boomtown in 1838 when it more than doubled its population to 20,000 plus.  The city continued its upward spiral of growth with an expansion of new industries in the late 1800s that included businesses founded by George Eastman of Eastman Kodak, and John Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb of Bausch and Lomb, eventually becoming a center for the garment industry during the early 20th century.  Today, Rochester is the state’s third largest city and boasts a population of more than 210,000 people.  The city is located in the humid continental climate zone and enjoys four distinct seasons that include mild, comfortable summers and cold, snowy winters, making Rochester a beautiful place to live or visit at any time of the year!

Rated the sixth “Most Livable City in America” in the 25th anniversary edition of Places Ranked Almanac, Rochester is a city that is known for its parks, festivals, and community events that contribute to the city’s down-home image and small-town feel with an emphasis on family, friends, and community.  The City of Rochester Parks Department maintains numerous municipal parks and facilities throughout the city, including Manhattan Square Park and Ice Rink, which features a water spray park in summer and ice rink in winter, and Genesee Valley Park that features two 18-hole golf courses, hiking and biking trails, canoeing and fishing, cross-country skiing, picnicking, and playgrounds.   Visit the remarkable Edgerton Model Railroad Room that depicts realistic railroad exhibits with a working model railroad from 1950s Rochester that is housed in the Edgerton Community Center and Park.  The Rochester Department of Recreation and Youth Services provides programs that include recreational and educational activities, sports and athletics, environmental education, and horticulture, in addition to operating the Rochester Public Market that recently captured first-place in the 2010 America’s Favorite Farmers Contest and was named "America’s Favorite Farmers Market" by the American Farmland Trust.

Whether touring the Susan B. Anthony House and Museum, attending a performance at the Geva Theatre Center, exploring the Rochester Museum & Science Center, or enjoying the pleasures of the Seabreeze Amusement Park or Seneca Park Zoo, residents and visitors alike will be amazed and delighted at the myriad of things to do and see in Rochester.

With its small-town charm, big city attractions, friendly citizens, and strong community leadership, it is easy to see why Rochester bills itself as a city “made for living!”
